Yes, and it is not decorative. House lights up at 00:15, twelve minutes, bar and smoking area open, then the second half. It is the one point in the night where you can have a conversation without shouting, which is exactly why cinemas invented it.

Question 2

Do I get an actual seat?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your row and seat are allocated when your payment clears and printed on your ticket — an usher with a torch will walk you to it. Whether you are still in it at one in the morning is your business.

Why do I have to apply instead of just buying a ticket?

Because the room is 240 people and we would rather choose them than sell to whoever refreshes fastest. Every application is read by a person. It is not a status test — we are building a floor, and floors need a mix.

Question 4

What are you actually looking for?

People who will be present. That is genuinely most of it. We read your Instagram to see whether you go to things, not to count followers. Applying with a private account is fine; applying with an empty one makes it harder for us to say yes.

When will I hear back?

Usually within a few days, and always before the show. You get an answer either way. If you are approved, the email and a WhatsApp message both carry your payment link.

How long do I have to pay?

48 hours from the moment we approve you. After that the seat goes back to the waitlist, because someone else is waiting for it. The link is single-use and tied to your name.

Where is it?

A working single-screen cinema, Chennai. The exact address goes out to ticket holders the day before, not to the internet. This is how we keep the room the size it is meant to be.

Question 8

What is the dress code, really?

Black tie, gone wrong. Formalwear, deconstructed. No sportswear, no shorts, no logos. We are not going to measure your lapels — but if you turn up in a jersey and shorts, the door will turn you around, and that is an awkward conversation for everyone.

Can I bring someone?

They apply separately. One application, one seat — except Balcony, which is one application for four people. Mention each other in the referral field and we will read you together.

What if I am late?

Doors at 8:30 pm. Last entry is 11:30 pm and it is not a soft deadline — after that the doors shut. There is no re-entry once you are in, either.

Refunds?

No refunds once you have paid, because your seat came out of a fixed number and someone was turned away for it. If you genuinely cannot make it, write to us and we will try to transfer your seat to the waitlist — no promises, and the name on the ticket has to change.

Question 12

Can I film?

Accepted Answer

Not on the floor. Phones out at the bar and in the foyer, phones away in the room. We have a photographer and everything goes up afterwards. This one is enforced.

Accessibility?

The venue is a working single-screen cinema with a raked auditorium. There is step-free access to the stalls and to the accessible toilet, and reserved space at the rail. Write to jamesjofficial07@gmail.com before applying and we will confirm specifics for the room and hold what you need.

Question 14

What is on the ticket, and do I need to print it?

No printing. Your ticket is a PDF with a QR code, emailed to you and available on a link. The QR is scanned once at the door and then it is spent — so do not post it, and do not forward it. Bring photo ID that matches the name.
